By Bay City News Service

A man who was shot and killed in front of a home in Rodeo early Saturday morning has been identified as 25-year-old Jason Ray Jones of San Pablo, a Contra Costa County coroner's deputy said.

Jones was sitting in a car with another person in the 1000 block of Viewpoint Boulevard around 1 a.m. Saturday when three people approached and one shot him, according to Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee.

Deputies found the victim a short time later lying in a front yard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders performed CPR but were unable to revive Jones, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other person in the car with the victim suffered only minor injuries, Lee said.

Lee said there was no other information about the shooting suspects as of Tuesday morning.

An investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Contra Costa County
