Martinez Braces For Triple-Digit Temps This Labor Day Weekend

MARTINEZ, CA — The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for most of the Bay Area including Martinez for the holiday weekend.

Most of the region was expected to go under a heat advisory earlier this week, but the NWS upgraded the advisory to an excessive heat watch as forecasts called for hotter temperatures.

“This means conditions are particularly dangerous to heat-sensitive groups and those without access to adequate cooling and hydration,” the NWS said.

The NWS advises staying hydrated, avoiding being outdoors during the morning and afternoon, and canceling outdoor activities during the hardest part of the day if possible.

The excessive heat watch will be in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Coastal regions will be under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Sunday through 8 p.m. Monday.

Temperatures in Martinez are expected to hit triple digits for two straight days: 106 degrees Monday and 108 degrees Tuesday. Temperatures will hover just below the 100-degree mark at 99 degrees Saturday and Sunday, according to AccuWeather.
