Martinez Carjacker Caught Red Handed After Victim Flags Down Nearby Cop
A Martinez police officer who was flagged down by a carjacking victim managed to catch the suspect fleeing the scene of the crime.

MARTINEZ, CA -- A carjacking victim was caught in the wrong place, but was fortunate that a police officer happened to be around at the right time.
At about 11 am on Monday, March 20, a Martinez police officer was on patrol in the area of Blue Ridge Drive and Roanoke Drive when the officer was flagged down by a citizen who reported his vehicle had just been stolen and that the car was last seen west on Blue Ridge Drive.
The area was searched and the vehicle was located traveling north on Alhambra Valley Road near Gilbert Court. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was detained. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Clayton Conroy, was the car's only occupant.

The owner of the vehicle responded to the scene and identified Conroy as the person who forcefully stole his vehicle. Conroy was booked into county jail for carjacking and violating his probation terms.
No one was injured during the incident, police say.
