MARTINEZ, CA — On January 4, 2023, Governor Newsom declared a State of Emergency in response to the ongoing severe storms related to a series of atmospheric river systems that began on December 27, 2022. These storms have caused significant impacts to the community already. With more severe weather ahead, the City anticipates continued impacts to occur throughout the community further hampering the City's ability to respond and resolve with available resources.

Additionally, the City Manager, serving as the City's Director of Emergency Services, declared a local emergency to allow the City to receive additional resources to help address the impacts from these storms.
