Martinez, East Bay To Go Under Excessive Heat Watch: NWS

MARTINEZ, CA — Parts of the East Bay including Martinez will go under an excessive heat watch later this week, the National Weather Service said.

Inland communities throughout most of the Bay Area will be under an excessive heat watch during daytime hours Friday when temperatures are expected to top out at 103 degrees, the NWS Bay Area said.

“Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the NWS said.

Cooler temperatures in Martinez earlier this week are expected to give way to warmer weather on Thursday when temperatures are expected to reach 92 degrees and then hit 99 Friday, AccuWeather reports.

"The Heat Watch is being issued to give heat-sensitive individuals time to plan accordingly," the NWS said.

"The combination of warm nights and hot days will be most prevalent on Friday. This heat event is forecast to be fairly short in duration with Friday being the hottest day for the interior portions of the Bay Area and Central Coast."
