Martinez Man Honored by the Red Cross

At Volunteer Appreciation Day for the American Red Cross in Contra Costa County on May 21, American Red Cross Bay Area CEO Harold Brooks (left) presented the Rookie of the Year Award to Ramesh Pillai of Martinez (center), joined by Concord Mayor Laura Hoffmeister (right). Pillai was recognized for his dedicated and cheerful service scheduling Disaster Action Team members every month, as well as lending an eager hand with just about any Red Cross need that arises with enthusiasm, humility and his trademark bright smile.
