Martinez Remembers 9/11

Some sights and sounds from the city's 9/11 memorial service.

The Martinez Police Department hosted a 9/11 commemoration this morning at the 9/11 Memorial site at the Amtrak Station. Police Chief Gary Peterson hosted the service, which included remarks from Congressman George Miller, Mayor Rob Schroder, Councilman Mark Ross, and Chamber of Commerce president Marie Knudsen.

The event also featured "Taps," played by a pair of local trumpeters, and a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace" by Army veteran Gary Jones of Concord.

About 50 people attended the service, which was held under grey skies.
