Motorcyclist Dies In Contra Costa Crash Involving Debris: CHP
The California Highway Patrol responded to the fatal crash early Sunday morning.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist died in a crash involving debris in the roadway early Sunday on state Highway 4 in Martinez, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP Contra Costa said it was advised at 2:03 a.m. Sunday of the solo motorcycle crash, which was on westbound SR-4 near Pine Street.
The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated a motorcyclist with no passenger was traveling westbound on SR-4 when they encountered debris in the roadway.

It was unclear whether the motorcycle initially struck the debris or the rider lost control in an attempt to avoid it, the CHP said.
"During the crash sequence, the rider was thrown from the motorcycle," the CHP said. "The rider of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office once the next of kin is properly notified.
