News Nuggets For Your Friday Edification
Creek Monkey's early opening today and Saturday, a tour of the Marina and a morning "pockets" meeting.
Today is Friday, July 8, 2011. Rumor has it that this was a short week, but I've yet to see any evidence of same.
There is good news — on Escobar is having a private dinner serving today and Saturday. Reservations required, and there is still seating available for the seating today from 3 to 5 p.m., but I believe tonight and Saturday are sold out. This is an exciting business opening soon, and we welcome Jim Blair and wish him the very best.
There will be a story later today about Thursday's tour of the by state and city officials. Having a close-up view of the facility is a little depressing — it's not looking like a showcase kind of place. It was great that Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla and state Sen. Mark Desaulnier were part of the tour. Perhaps their influence can help the city get the funding it needs to repair the marina and keep the boats from sinking into the silt.

There also will be a story today about another tree in that fell into the street Thursday. It's an ongoing problem for one of the prettiest parks in town.
And there will be an informal meeting this morning between city officials and the merchants of the 500 block of Main Street to discuss the future of the "" and the status of returning the street to two way. Martinez Patch has been assured that no plans have been put on paper and no decisions made as to what the 500 block is going to look like. The merchants are not so sure, and will no doubt continue to keep a wary eye on the situation.
