Pool Season to be Extended through September
To compensate for the delayed opening date, which is now July 23, the new pool will be open seven days a week until mid-September.

A delay in the opening of the new pool complex will mean an extended season for the public.Β To compensate for lost time, the Parks, Recreation, Marina and Cultural Commission (PRMCC) announced at its Tuesday meeting that pool season will be extended through mid-September. The pool will also be open seven days a week instead of the usual six.Β Pool season normally ends in the third week of August, with the facility closed on Mondays.
An unusually long rainy season delayed the intended pool opening of July 9. A public opening is now slated for July 23, Recreation Manager Mitch Austin announced at the PRMCC meeting.Β
Austin added that the new schedule is dependent on the city's ability to maintain pool staff for the extended period. Since staff members are often college students, Austin said, there may be a problem in retaining these temporary employees into the first weeks of September.Β
