Rider Crushed By Horse, Rushed By Helicopter To Hospital

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A man was injured Sunday evening near Bethel Island in unincorporated Contra Costa County when he fell off his horse and the horse then fell on top of him, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District reported. Paramedics responded at 7:55 p.m. Sunday to a pasture off Aspen Road near Sandmound Boulevard, about a quarter-mile southeast of the Bethel Island business district, according to fire district social media.

The man fell off the horse, and the horse then fell on him, the fire district said. The man was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital with what the fire district described as "moderate" injuries.

Further information about the victim was not immediately available.
