Say Hello To the Newest Beaver in Martinez

Whether or not you are a fan of the Martinez beaver family in Alhambra Creek, there's no denying the adorability of the latest addition.

This kit was video taped on Sunday, May 5, as he emerged from the dam. According to Heidi Perryman of Worth A Dam, a beaver advocacy group based in Martinez, the kit is a little early. Usually they make their first appearance in June or July.

The family caught a break last year, when the father found a new mate. He was widowed late in 2011 when his original mate died. The family has since continued to thrive in the waters of Alhambra Creek, surviving storms and human opponents.
