Skate Park Reopens After Graffiti Removed
City crews spend the morning scrubbing the facility.
Give some bored people a spray paint can and too much time on their hands, and you get tagging. Unfortunately, last weekend, taggers took to the Martinez Skateboard Park and defaced the facility with profanity.Β
On Monday, city officials closed the park and scheduled work crews to undo the damage.Β
On Wednesday, after eight hours and eight gallons of grafitti removal solution and power scrubbing, city crews took out most of the offensive tags and reopened the park.Β

"I guess some people just don't have anything better to do," said one city worker. He added that each time the concrete at the park has to be power-scrubbed, the skate surface gets more abrasive. That is not the best surface for skaters.Β
