Sunflower Garden Cuts the Ribbon
A Martinez institution changes locations, attracts a large gathering of well-wishers.
Sunflower Garden formally cut the red ribbon Feb. 6 on its new location at the corner of Marina Vista and Ferry Street, to the cheers of a large, exhuberant crowd of well-wishers and friends.
"I'm so happy to be here," said owner Sandy Young, who has relocated her 17-year-old business from its former home on Escobar Street to the new locale. "It's good to see so many familiar faces today."
Among the celebrants were Mayor Rob Schroder, Vice Mayor Janet Kennedy and City Councilman Mike Menesini, as well as a host of business owners and long-time fans of the Sunflower Garden menu. The restaurant opens to the public Monday, Feb. 7.
