'The Martinez Special:' A Historical Look At The Martini's Origin

Robin Parker made the The Martinez Special while a student in film school. It stars Martinez resident Carter Wilson and others explaining the “controversy” about the origin of the martini – was it first concocted in San Francisco, or in Martinez? A “trial” was held in the 1980s to “decide” this issue, and Martinez won the appeal. Since then, it’s been a point of pride for the city to advertise itself as the birthday of the martini.
