An impromptu fountain was created on the evening of Feb. 5 when a Toyota truck hit a fire hydrant near the intersection of Brown and Ferry streets, spewing water nearly 30 feet into the air.
Fire, police and city maintenance crews responded to the incident, which happened around 7:30 p.m. The driver of the truck was leaving after visiting a nearby home. As she backed out of her curbside parking space, the truck sheared off the hydrant.
"It's the third time this has happened," said Laura Maria, who lives near the site of the accident. "People don't see the hydrant there."
