• Air Force technicians safely disarm WWII-era practice bomb discovered near Gualala (localnewsmatters.org) — A World War II-era practice bomb was safely destroyed after being discovered on private property in unincorporated Mendocino County near Gualala, with the Sheriff’s Office calling in Air Force explosives experts. Technicians moved the device to a remote area for a controlled detonation and confirmed no remaining hazards. Officials urge residents to avoid suspicious objects and immediately contact law enforcement.

Tribal scientists and state biologists rescued the young fish to a hatchery, where they’ll help rebuild more genetically diverse salmon runs that could eventually benefit the broader Mendocino region.
