Police said they will be conducting an upcoming DUI checkpoint and have just announced when and where.

MENLO PARK, CA — Police will hold a DUI checkpoint Friday in Menlo Park and have announced the time and location, police said.

The Menlo Park Police Department has planned a DUI checkpoint for 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Marsh Road and Florence Street, police said.

Sergeant Chris Adair emphasizes the importance of responsible driving, reminding everyone that impaired driving puts countless lives at risk.

“Drive responsibly, so everyone gets home safe,” Adair said.

Police said they determine checkpoint locations based on data that shows incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

Police are reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but also some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Cannabis may be legal to use in California but it is still illegal to drive under the influence, police said.
