MENLO PARK, CA — Locals can look forward to an exciting new dining experience as a celebrated husband-and-wife chef team are opening a Menlo Park restaurant Friday that highlights their Taiwanese and Korean roots with a name fitting for the beloved couple.

Yeobo, Darling will open Friday at 827 Santa Cruz Ave in Menlo Park. In Korean the word yeobo is a term of endearment that can translate to honey or sweetheart. The name also honors the past and embraces the present as the term yeobo is often used by parents or grandparents, providing a nostalgic quality to the concept.

Chefs Meichih and Michael Kim have received acclaim for their Michelin-starred restaurant Maum in Palo Alto and street-fare inspired Bao Bei in Los Altos. Yeobo, Darling will be an amalgam of the married couple’s background drawing from Meichih’s Taiwanese and Michael’s Korean roots.

The restaurant will offer a succinct à la carte menu intended to bring an abundant feeling to the table and will include dishes suitable for sharing and a selection of individual bites.

Diners can start with a variety of small plates, such as chilled perilla somyun and scallion croissants with rou song butter, before graduating to larger dishes including pork collar and kalbi served with banchan.

The drink menu is developed by Bar Mood, one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, and will include nonalcoholic and low-ABV cocktails that draw from Taiwanese high-elevation teas. Master Sommelier Kyungmoon Kim has curated a selection of fine wines and sool — a term that incorporates multiple alcoholic beverage types, such as soju and makgeolli — which is imported from Korea.

The interior was designed by LA’s Preen and will feature minimal design softened with warm blush tones. The 10-seat private dining room offers an intimate setting and the four-seat bar provides a cozy space for a drink.
