M-A breaks record at annual Canned Food Drive distribution day (inmenlo.com) — Menlo-Atherton High School students just helped local families in and around Menlo Park by distributing a record 420,336 pounds of food through their annual Canned Food Drive with Ecumenical Hunger Program. Volunteers organized, packed, and loaded food and hygiene items for long lines of families, responding to rising need as food assistance benefits shrink and grocery costs climb.
   

2. Man Steals Dog In San Mateo, Flees Down Highway 101, Gets Caught (sfist.com) — A stolen dog case out of San Mateo ended on Highway 101 just north of Marsh Road in Menlo Park, where police stopped the suspect’s car and arrested a 33-year-old man. The doodle was safely returned to its family, and officers are urging pet owners to microchip and document their animals to make reunions easier after thefts or losses.
   

3. What to Expect From the Marshall Tucker Band's 2026 Dates (ultimateclassicrock.com) — The Marshall Tucker Band’s 2026 “While I’m Young” tour will stop in Menlo Park on Feb. 20 for a show at The Guild Theatre, giving local classic rock fans a chance to see the long-running Southern rock group up close. The full tour spans dozens of cities nationwide and follows a successful 2025 run despite past health setbacks for lead singer Doug Gray.
   

4. Lilly Endowment grants fund new bishops' institute, internship program and more (thedialog.org) — Menlo Park’s St. Patrick’s Seminary and University is one of six seminaries joining a new pastoral leadership “laboratory” funded by major Lilly Endowment grants. The project will revamp how future priests are trained to manage parishes, from working with finance councils to supervising staff. Several other Catholic institutions nationwide also received multimillion‑dollar awards to strengthen clergy and lay ministry formation.
   

5. California sends rescue teams to Washington state due to severe floods (sfchronicle.com) — Menlo Park firefighters are among more than 100 California first responders heading to Washington state to help with dangerous flooding after back-to-back atmospheric river storms. Governor Gavin Newsom authorized sending urban search-and-rescue teams and swift-water crews from several California departments to assist evacuations and water rescues, underscoring regional cooperation during severe weather emergencies.
