$40,000 Playset Stolen from National Park Service Property Near Muir Beach

Theft of the play structure occurred sometime between July 20-21; yard had no gate or surveillance cameras.

A $40,000 playset was stolen from a private residence on National Park Service property near Muir Beach sometime last weekend, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a yard at Muir Woods Rd. and Shoreline Highway near Muir Beach at around 2 p.m. Wednesday on a report by a park service employee that someone had stolen a $40,000 play structure that was partially disassembled.

The employee told deputies that the structure was stolen sometime between last Sunday and Monday and the caller noticed that it was missing on Monday. He waited a few days before filing the report to check if other employees had seen anything.

There is no gate at the front of the maintenance yard and there are no video cameras in the yard, according to the report.
