“The fact that Max Michael Wade attempted to kill two people at the age of 17 and can obtain firearms, fraudulent identification cards and driver’s licenses, large sums of money and vehicles and remain undetected is a continuing danger to the community,” Marin County sheriff’s Detective Greg Garrett said in an affidavit.

The case began on April 13, when a man in all black on a black motorcycle drove by 18-year-old Landon Wahlstrom’s parked pickup truck outside his family’s home on Evergreen Ave. and fired at least five shots at it. Neither Wahlstrom nor his 17-year-old girlfriend sustained more than minor injuries in the shooting, which apparently came as the result of a Facebook rift over the girl.

Through serendipity and impressive police work, investigators tracked the shooting to Wade, who was by the shooting victims as a supplier fake California IDs to many high school students in Marin. Wade was also known for driving a yellow Lamborghini, according to the affidavit.

Detectives followed Wade to a Point Richmond storage unit. Inside the storage facility, they said they found Fieri's $200,000 bright yellow 2008 Lamborghini Spyder Gallardo – complete with a “GUYTORO” vanity plate – that was stolen from a San Francisco car dealership in March 2011.

Investigators said they also found false identification cards for California, Florida and New York, local police scanner coordinates, cellphone-jamming equipment, a dismantled AKA-47 assault weapon, a shotgun, and a full San Francisco Police Department uniform with a badge and duty belt, according to the affidavit. They also found items that may connect Wade to a number of unsolved Northern California bank robberies, according to court documents.
