Bay Area Family Of Giants Pitcher Missing In Texas Floods
The family's teen daughter was rescued at a summer camp, but her parents and younger brother remain missing.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Three members of a Marin County family are still missing in the flash flooding aftermath that has decimated central Texas during the Fourth of July weekend, according to a report from the Kerr County Lead.
Kentfield residents Mark Walker, 52, Sara Walker, 50, and Johnny Walker, 14, were last seen in the community known as Hunt in Texas, according to the Kerr County Lead. The couple’s daughter, Ellie, 16, a Marin Catholic student, was rescued at a summer camp, according to the Press Democrat. Mark Walker’s brother is former San Francisco Giants pitcher Tyler Walker.
Across six counties, more than 80 deaths have been reported due to flood waters from the Guadalupe River near San Antonio. The Walkers are among dozens still missing.

On Sunday, a candlelight vigil was held at Bacich Elementary School in Kentfield. Marin Catholic plans to hold a prayer service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Saint Sebastian Church located at 373 Bon Air Rd. Johnny is an incoming freshman at Marin Catholic.
“At the request of the Walker family, we are declining to comment at this time,” Lisa Johnston, a school spokesperson, said Monday.

On Monday, authorities reported that the search for those missing in the flood, including ten girls and a counselor from Camp Mystic, was still underway. However, they also indicated that the likelihood of finding survivors diminished with each passing day.
Of the at least 75 people killed in the floods, 27 were children in Kerr County, northwest of San Antonio. Authorities reported additional fatalities in other counties: five in Travis County, three in Burnet County, two in Kendall County, two in Williamson County, and one in Tom Green County.
