Police Say Carts Filled With Alcohol And More Were Shoplifted From A Grocery Store
Police say surveillance video shows three people fill up their carts and leave without paying.
MILL VALLEY, CA — Mill Valley police arrested three people Wednesday evening at Safeway after responding to a report they had filled their shopping carts with alcohol and other items and just walked out of the store, police said.
At around 6 p.m. Wednesday, Mill Valley police said they received a report of a shoplifting in progress at Safeway on Camino Alto.
According to Safeway Loss Prevention, surveillance cameras caught multiple people fill up their carts with different items and pass the cash register without paying. According to Safeway, they had taken alcohol and other items but they were still in the parking lot.

Mill Valley police said they arrived and found two occupied cars associated with the theft. Police said they searched the cars and found numerous items identified as stolen from Safeway and other stores in the area.
Officers arrested Gilberto Torres-Oliveros, 35, a Healdsburg resident, and Lou Quijas, 45, and Juan Guerrero-Medina, 20, both Santa Rosa residents, police said.

Torres-Oliveros and Quijas were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, conspiracy, and theft with two prior convictions of theft. Guerrero-Medina was arrested for suspicion of criminal conspiracy.
All three suspects were booked into the Marin County Jail.
