City Seeking to Fill Surprise Vacancy on Emergency Preparedness Commission After Member Resigns
A new member will serve through February 2014, and then be eligible to apply for a three-year term.

The City Council is looking to fill an unplanned vacancy on the Emergency Preparedness Commission after Eric Jaffe resigned from the board. He's relocating to Sausalito and is no longer eligible to serve, said City Clerk Kelsey Rogers.
The six current members are all residents of the city of Mill Valley, but the council will accept applicants who live outside city limits as long as they're within the Mill Valley Elementary School district. The committee is compromised of seven members that serve three-year terms on a rotating term schedule. Whoever is appointed to this open seat will serve through February 28, 2014, and then the applicant will be able to reapply for a new three-year term.
Commission meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. The Emergency Preparedness Commission is an advisory Commission to the City Council and City staff with no decision or policy-making authority. Staff support of the Emergency Preparedness Commission is provided by the Fire Department led by the Fire Chief Angel Bernal.
