Last Saturday evening I was riding my motorcycle west on Throckmorton by Bank of America.
A car stopped at Miller between the Depot and U.S. Bank and then shot straight forward across Throckmorton towards an open parking spot near Peet's. The driver didn't seem to see me until I honked as I braked to avoid having him hit me broadside.
He pulled into his spot and rolled down his window. In response to my asking him if he realized he almost hit me, he said "I never saw you, that's a good thing for you to know." No apology, no indication whatsoever that he may have been driving unsafely.
This leaves me with the following reflection, besides the obvious regarding looking both ways at an intersection: It's interesting that he saw this near-accident as a lesson I needed as opposed to a learning experience for him to perhaps be more observant while driving.
