Marin County Adds Two Deputy County Executives

Linn Walsh and Danielle O'Leary bring local expertise to key policy roles.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The County of Marin has appointed two seasoned government leaders to serve as Deputy County Executives, reinforcing its commitment to equitable community services and strategic governance.

Linn Walsh and Danielle O’Leary, both longtime Marin residents with deep roots in local government, will begin their new roles on March 31. They will report to County Executive Derek Johnson and collaborate on key policy initiatives at the Marin County Civic Center.

Walsh, an 18-year veteran of the City of Mill Valley, will oversee communications, legislative affairs, the new Office of the Inspector General, and facilities planning. She has been instrumental in advancing racial equity, securing funding for infrastructure, and strengthening community partnerships.

“Linn has a tremendous reputation as a passionate public administrator who brings people together to create meaningful change,” Johnson said.

O’Leary, who has 26 years of experience in municipal administration, will focus on strengthening government partnerships and advancing initiatives in climate change, sustainability, and community development. She previously led economic development efforts in San Rafael and Santa Rosa and most recently worked in private sector development.

“Danielle’s career has been centered on the intersection of public policy, economic strategy, and community development,” Johnson said. “That’s an intersection we’re eager to strengthen.”

Both Walsh and O’Leary expressed enthusiasm for their new roles, emphasizing collaboration and innovation as driving forces for Marin’s future.
