Marin Man’s Body Found In Corte Madera Creek

Foul play is not believed to be have been a factor in the man's death, authorities said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A body found late Sunday morning in Corte Madera Creek has been identified as a 59-year-old San Rafael man with no fixed address, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The release of the man's identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The body was found at around 10:46 a.m. Sunday within storm debris of the Corte Madera Creek waters near a building fronting 1251 S. Eliseo Drive in Greenbrae, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A passing rower/crew member traversing the area made the initial discovery and reported her findings to authorities.

First Responders were immediately dispatched to the area and found the body in the waterway.

The body was pulled to a dock at the base of the Bon Air Bridge and the man was pronounced dead without resuscitative aid after physiologic signs of death were apparent, the Sheriff's Office said.

The man is believed to have been exposed to the elements and submerged for a prolonged period, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“No overt signs of foul play were noted upon the remains,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The investigation of this case is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
