The city on Thursday launched an online survey on its 8-year housing plan, also called the "Housing Element Update."

MILL VALLEY, CA — The city of Mill Valley is planning for new development, and it is seeking public input on how to proceed.

The city on Thursday launched an online survey on its 8-year housing plan, also called the “Housing Element Update.”

The Housing Element aims to assess the community’s needs and provide a roadmap to for future development.

The update process is based on the 2023-2031 timeframe and must address several state requirements.

As part of this Housing Element update, the city must demonstrate that it can accommodate at least 865 new homes on land within City limits for a range of household incomes.

Mill Valley must identify a combination of properties to successfully illustrate to the state that it can plan and make room for its share of new housing assigned to the San Francisco Bay Area region.
