Mill Valley Readies For Inaugural Juneteenth Freedom Festival

The North Bay city will celebrate African American Independence Day with live music, poetry and activities for those of all ages Saturday.

MILL VALLEY, CA – Mill Valley is readying to launch its inaugural Juneteenth Celebration.

Mill Valley's Juneteenth Freedom Festival will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mill Valley Depot Plaza.

The North Bay city will celebrate African American Independence Day with live music, poetry and activities for those of all ages.

The event will feature performances from the bands Jazz Mafia, Deuce Eclipse, Daylight, Unlearn the World and DJ Saurus. It will also involve the social justice advocacy group Hip Hop for Change.

"Mill Valley, in its commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has decided to host its first Juneteenth Celebration, entitled Freedom Festival," a city staff report said.

The Freedom Festival is a co-branded event presented by the city of Mill Valley with the Recreation Department in the lead and Mill Valley Force for Racial Equity & Empowerment (MVFREE).
