Mill Valley Readies To Simulate Disaster

Mill Valley and surrounding Central Marin communities will hold a post-earthquake simulation drill next month.

MILL VALLEY, CA — Mill Valley and surrounding communities are readying for an event they hopes will never happen.

The Central Marin communities will hold a post-earthquake simulation drill next month.

The training exercise aims to hone emergency response skills, city officials said.

The event is presented by Central Marin’s Community Emergency Response Team with volunteers provided by the National Charity League.

The event will be held May 14 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hall Middle School in Larkspur.

“This half day event will refresh your CERT skills as we simulate a post-earthquake scenario,” Mill Valley officials said in a statement announcing the event.

“Hall Middle School will be the location of this exercise and our CERTs will do search and rescue, triage, transport and basic first aid with live ‘victims.’

“This is a great opportunity to work with your county CERTs and put your skills into practice, with many roles available depending on your experience level.”
