Person Missing After 3 Swept Into Marin Coastal Waters
A rescue safely brought two people to shore.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A search was underway Monday for a person who was swept into the coastal waters off Muir Beach, authorities.
The missing person was among three who were swept into the ocean; two others were rescued by helicopter, the Golden Gate National Parks Service tweeted.
“We appreciate the public’s support and thank our highly trained and professional partners, especially air operations and the CHP helicopter that made the two successful cliff rescues,” the agency tweeted.

“Operations will continue until it unsafe for personnel to do so.”
The NPS, Marin County Fire , Southern Marin Fire, Muir Beach Fire, and the U.S. Coast Guard (boat and helicopter operations) were involved in the rescue and search efforts, the agency said.

The Marin Independent Journal reports three hikers were in the beach’s rocky area when one was swept into the ocean at about 1:30 p.m. The two rescued hikers were not injured, according to the report.
Coast Guard Lt. Chris Payne told the news outlet that a first light search was scheduled for Tuesday morning at dawn.
