Police Arrest Alleged Drunk Driver After Crash into 2am Club

Escondido resident reportedly drove into the front door of the Deuce on Miller Ave. and then fled on foot, only to be tracked down minutes later.

Last call at the Deuce had come and gone, but one reveler reportedly hadn't had enough.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run early Tuesday after he allegedly drove his car into the front door of the 2am Club and fled on foot, only to be caught minutes later, according to Mill Valley Police.

Sgt. Paul Wrapp said police received a report at around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday of cars racing near Miller Ave. and Camino Alto. As they responded to the area, they received an additional report of a crash in the area of Miller and Montford avenues, home to the 2am Club.

When officers arrived, they found a 1998 Honda sedan slammed into the entryway of the 2am Club, with its driver-side airbag deployed but no one inside, Wrapp said. The bar had shut its doors at its usual 2 a.m. closing time, Wrapp said, and no one was inside.

Soon after police arrived on the scene, a Marin County Sheriff's deputy spotted and detained Escondido, Calif., resident Ivan Anthony Quiroz near Whole Foods Market one block away, Wrapp said. Quiroz was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail.

The door and entryway of the 2am Club sustained damage in the crash, but city building department officials have allowed the bar to continue to stay open while the damage is being repaired.
