Wrong-Way Driver Kills Motorist On Bay Area Bridge: CHP
California Highway Patrol said they suspect alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A wrong-way driver crashed head on with a Honda Civic near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge early Tuesday morning, killing the Honda driver and hospitalizing the other in critical condition, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The crash occurred at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning, shutting down the eastbound direction of the bridge until 5:30 a.m., according to CHP.
The Honda driver died at the scene and paramedics transported the wrong-way driver to the hospital, where they are in critical condition, police said.

CHP believes alcohol played a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
Neither of the drivers' identities have been released at this time.
