Broken Car Windows Tied To San Jose Suspect, Milpitas Police Say

Milpitas Police arrested the San Jose on accusations of felony vandalism after a spree of car windows were broken on North Hillview Drive.

MILPITAS, CA — Police arrested a 23-year-old San Jose man suspected of breaking five car windows on Saturday in Milpitas.

Lazarus Jacob Garcia was taken into custody after a resident called police about 7:30 a.m. Saturday to report that someone had thrown a brick through a car window near the 200 block of North Hillview Drive.

Home surveillance cameras captured the vandalism and the resident was able to provide police with a description of the suspect based on the footage. When officers arrived a few minutes later, they located Garcia nearby and found four other vehicles with shattered windows and other damage in the area. In all, about $3,000 in damage was reported, police said.

Garcia, who was on probation in Santa Clara County for carjacking, was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail on suspicion of felony vandalism, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and a probation violation.
