Burglary Suspect Falls Into Pool Evading Cops, Accomplice Hides

The two men are being accused of trying to steal jewelry, cash and other items while the victim hid and tipped off police.

MILPITAS, CA -- Police arrested two East Bay men on suspicion of residential burglary last week on the 2200 block of Yosemite Drive in Milpitas -- but before prompting a little drama in the attempted escape.

Andre Lamont McBride Jr, 23, of Hayward and Michael L. Ambrose, 22, of Alameda County were taken into custody in connection with a 11:38 a.m. call in which a resident reported hearing noises in her backyard. She told police dispatchers she was hiding and that it sounded like someone was trying to open her bedroom.

Milpitas police officers arrived and saw McBride climbing out of an open window. McBride saw an officer at the front of the home and jumped a back fence to another home where officers were waiting. He then tried to run from the officers and fell into a swimming pool.
