Groundbreaking Planned Wednesday For Milpitas Innovation Campus

The innovation campus will replace much of the existing facilities at the former Ayer High School and MUSD District Office site.

MILPITAS, CA — The Milpitas Unified School District (MUSD) Board of Education and Superintendent Jordan, with project team members Blach Construction (Blach) and Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) would like to announce the groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction of the Milpitas Innovation Campus. The MUSD Innovation Campus is a first-of-its-kind education, early childhood education research, and workforce development center designed to support future-ready learners of all ages with space and opportunities to connect with local businesses and partners for a revolutionary, real-world education.

Replacing much of the existing facilities at the former Ayer High School and MUSD District Office site, the MUSD Innovation Campus will comprise six new two-story buildings, as well as one modernized building. The 99,000 sq. ft. campus, designed by Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) and being built by Blach Construction (Blach), includes:

  • 75 classrooms
  • 15+ Experiential Learning Labs
  • Career Simulation and STEAM Labs
  • Flex Spaces
  • Outdoor Learning Quads and Courtyards
  • District Office Facilities

These impressive new facilities will support a wide variety of programming, including adult education, business entrepreneurship, robotics, biology, virtual reality, AV production, coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science and virtual design construction, as well as simulation for legal, financial, manufacturing and health career training. Sustainability is a driving force behind the project, which will pursue California High Performance Schools (CHPS) certification and be powered by MUSD’s existing solar grid.

Thanks to the incredible community support of Bond Measure AA and the ongoing investment of independent financial partners like KLA Corporation, the MUSD Innovation Campus is set to come to life in three phases. Phases one and two will be complete in summer 2023 and summer 2024, respectively, while phase three, which includes the workforce and education research centers, will be complete by fall 2025.
