Milpitas Police Arrest East Palo Alto Pair in Burglary

A Milpitas resident received a cell phone alert notification that intruders broke into a home on Rocky Mountain Ave. Police were called.

MILPITAS-Milpitas Police have arrested two men in connection with a residential burglary on December 28.

According to police, about 8:55 P.M., a Milpitas resident received a cell phone alert notification that intruders had broken into a home in the 1800 block of Rocky Mountain Ave.

The cell phone is linked to a home surveillance system which has a motion detector sensor. The resident immediately called the Milpitas Police Department.

Milpitas Police say officers arrived quickly and established a perimeter around the neighborhood as the suspects were fleeing.

One suspect, 23-year-old East Palo Alto resident Daniel Flores, was captured immediately when he jumped the backyard fence to an awaiting Milpitas Police officer. Additional officers conducted yard to yard searches for the other outstanding suspect.

Approximately an hour later, officers found 24-year-old East Palo Alto resident Jaime Magana hiding in a nearby backyard. He again attempted to flee but was caught and taken into custody. One Milpitas Police officer sustained minor injuries during the apprehension.

Police say the suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County jail for residential burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, probation violation, and resisting arrest. Additionally, Flores was booked for an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from a prior burglary investigation.
