Suspected Prowlers Arrested On Drug Charges, Police Say

A watchful neighbor noticed suspicious activity and called officers, who netted two arrests on suspicion of prowling and drug possession.

MILPITAS, CA -- Two men were arrested last week when police responded to a call of suspicious activity and loitering in a backyard of a home located on the 400 Block Roswell Drive in Milpitas.

Laine Patrick Barnes, 44, a transient, was apprehended on suspicion of prowling and drug paraphernalia possession. Danny Arthur Gutierrez, 37, is accused of prowling and possession of a controlled substance. Both were taken to the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

After the 12:51 p.m. call a resident made on Jan. 24 to the Milpitas Police Department, officers arrived and found Barnes and Gutierrez in front of the residence. During the investigation, officers determined both suspects unlawfully entered a backyard and were rummaging through the victim’s vehicle. Police also found drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.
