Woman Killed in Double Shooting North of I-680 Sunday Identified
The death is San Jose's 40th homicide this year, police said.

A woman killed in a double shooting just north of Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose Sunday morning has been identified a 35-year-old Laura Garcia, police said. Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 1900 block of Lavonne Avenue around 6:30 a.m., police said. When officers arrived, they found Garcia and a man each suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to police.
The victims were transported to a hospital where Garcia was pronounced dead soon after she arrived and the man was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. Investigators haven't identified or arrested the two suspects, described as Hispanic men in their early to mid-20s, according to police.
