5 Things: Groundbreaking at Dog Park
A new dog park, a city anniversary and info on the county fair.

Here are 5 things in and around Mission Viejo for Thursday, July 25:
- The official groundbreaking ceremony took place Wednesday for the Mission Viejo dog park. The park at 24970 Felipe Road will feature three dog runs and 65,000 square feet of grass for the city's estimated 20,000 dogs.
The park will be constructed by October, but it will take months for the weather to be warm enough to germinate the grass, said Keith Rattay, assistant city manager. So don't expect the park to open until 2014, he said. - The Alicia entrance to the Albertsons shopping center (the one that shares a corner with Olympiad) is closed for repairs.
- The city's 25th anniversary symphonic celebration is Saturday, and kids are invited from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for some pre-symphony celebrating. Learn more here.
- The Vans U.S. Open of Surfing swims along in Huntington Beach through Sunday. For a schedule of events, click here.
- The Orange County Fair continues Wednesday through Sunday with its array of pig races, freaky fried food, carnival rides, exhibits and more. Click here for schedules, directions and other information.
