6-Car Crash Stalls Traffic For Miles On 5 Freeway In Mission Viejo

The six-car crash was reported at 1:46 p.m. on the Interstate 5 freeway near Crown Valley Parkway, authorities say.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Traffic on the Interstate 5 freeway traveling south through Mission Viejo was stalled for miles after a six-car crash blocked two lanes on the freeway Tuesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 1:46 p.m. near Crown Valley Parkway in Mission Viejo, authorities said.

Less than an hour later, California Highway Patrol officials reported a second crash on the freeway near Alicia Parkway, just a few miles north of the first crash.

It is not currently known if anyone was injured in either crash, according to the CHP log.

Both collisions resulted in slow-moving traffic on the Interstate 5 freeway traveling south through Mission Viejo.

Commuters were advised to steer clear of the scene while authorities investigate.
