MISSION VIEJO, CA — A popular retail chain is making a big change in Orange County.

Costco has plans to open up a 40-pump facility — gasoline only — off the Interstate 5 Freeway between La Paz Road and Oso Parkway at 25732 El Paseo, according to the City of Mission Viejo.

Construction on the project includes demolishing a shuttered Bed, Bath & Beyond store, the city said.

The announcement comes as welcome news to many Costco members who prefer the company's Kirkland brand of gas, which are some of the lowest in the market.

The standalone gas station will exclusively service members when it opens in spring 2026, according to city planning documents.
