Kids Go to Bathgate Elementary? Will You Walk to School Wednesday?

Bathgate Elementary School is participating in the National Walk to School day.

From a press release:

Bathgate Elementary School will be participating in the National Walk to School day on Oct. 8, 2014 ( Wednesday) with 4,400 other schools all over the world registered to all participate in this annual event.

Children are encouraged to Walk or Bike to School bright and earlytomorrow, as this program hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle, a means to reducing air pollution and traffic and as a way to spend quality with a family member.

Every student that participates in the event will receive a “Character Counts” ticket.
At Bathgate Elementary, Children work on daily basis towards building good character. Students are recognized with “Character Counts” tickets when they make good decisions, show responsibility, impart kindness, and demonstrate a caring attitude that contributes to the unity of our Bathgate school community.

Each week, “Character Counts” tickets are drawn at the Friday Flag Assembly to reward students from each grade level.

Being a Kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school, Bathgate is hopeful for a good turn out for their approximately 750 students.

Mission Viejo Mayor Trish Kelley will walk to school with Bathgate Principal Shelly Kurtz with other members of the faculty. The Mission Viejo Fire Department and Police Station will likewise be on hand to make sure the event is safe and fun for all those who attend.
