Know Your Car's Crash Test Results With an App

Here are five things to keep you informed about Mission Viejo and Orange County for Monday, Aug. 12.

1. Two MOMS Clubs chapters in Mission Viejo have recently merged to create one citywide chapter. They have also launched a new website, momsclubmv.org.
   
   
2. ESPN and the City of Mission Viejo teamed up to host an exclusive film premiere of "The 99ers" featuring rare footage of the US Women's World Cup Soccer Champions Friday at the Village Green.
   
   
3. It’s Vinyl Record Day. Put away the iPod and CDs and relive the crackle of an LP.
   

4. Camp Pendleton will train with explosives from 6 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. Booms may be heard up to 50 miles away. 

5. USA.gov is encouraging drivers to download Safer Car from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The app lets drivers look up a vehicle’s crash test results and get notifications of important car recalls or new safety information. The app even gives driving directions and can help on properly installing child car seats.
