Fundraiser Saturday for Girl with Bone Disease
Jordan Pollard will have her final fundraiser this Saturday at ArtForm Pilates.
A final fundraiser will be held Saturday for 6-year-old Jordan Pollard, who has undergone a painful hip surgery to treat a rare bone disease.
Shannon Pollard describes her daughter's recovery as an "incredibly bumpy ride" that would be "harrowing for any parent."
Jordan picked up what doctors think was a hospital-borne staph infection at the Baltimore facility where she had last October, Shannon said.

The infection led to a late-night panic at the Pollard home on Dec. 19 when Jordan began screaming inconsolably, the mother said.
Doctors eventually traced the problem to the infection, which they have been treating with antibiotics ever since.

While the surgery shows hopeful signs ("her bone growth has been phenomenal"), the infection will require an earlier-than-expected removal of Jordan's fixator.
When they learned why their daughter had been limping for months, the Pollards flew her to Baltimore to be seen by a Legg-Calve-Perthes disease expert.
Since then they've , but the family still faces a lot of medical debt, which her mother Shannon estimates at about $100,000.
"She is in for a long battle," Shannon said. "It's been a struggle."
After the next surgery, Jordan begins phase two of her treatment. That will require her to stay in a wheelchair and wear a brace for four to six weeks.
The fundraiser at will take place from noon to 3 p.m. The studio offers three group mat classes for $15 per person and private sessions for $50. All proceeds will go toward the Pollard family's medical expenses.
