Mission Viejo Car Wash Raises Over $4,000 for Troops

Last Saturday's car wash drove in over $4,000 for U.S. sailors and marines.

More than $4,000 was raised last Saturday when about 50 U.S. sailors and marines soaped up Mission Viejo residents' vehicles at the .

The money wasn't only raised by the car wash. People bought t-shirts, hats, military coins and dog tags in support of the troops, too, according to the city.

The donations will benefit the Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division.

Along with the car wash, volunteers from the cooked up pancakes, bacon and hot dogs for the hard working sailors and marines.

In total, more than 100 cars were washed.
