Mission Viejo High School Test Scores Revealed

Find out how the Diablos did compared with other high schools locally and statewide.

The scored 850 out of 1,000 possible points in a statewide measurement of student achievement.

That's the same score they received last year, and MVHS is still the highest-scoring high school in Mission Viejo.

Socioeconomically disadvantaged students improved most out of the subgroups studied. MVHS students in poverty scored 744, an improvement of 24 points over last year.

Latino students scored 766, a decrease of 12 points from last year.

English learners lost the most ground, scoring 19 points lower than last year, with an API of 663.

This week the California Department of Education released test scores that show how the state's schools are performing compared with other schools. The Academic Performance Index is the state's measurement of academic success.

Since lawmakers passed the Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999, the state's high schools have been scored with a single number between 200 and 1,000. This API score represents student achievement in a variety of subjects.

The subjects studied include math, science, social science and English.

Overall, the Saddleback Valley Unified School District met 55 percent of its test score targets this year. By comparison, Capistrano Unified School District met 71 percent of its goals.
