Mission Viejo Invites Public to Derby Drive-In

The event is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 12 from 3:30-10 p.m.

Enjoy a movie under the stars while floating on a raft during a special Derby Dive-In event from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Sierra Recreation Center.

The event will feature a screening of The Sandlot at dusk. The Sandlot is a coming-of- age story about a group of young boys growing up in California in 1962. Guests can bring rafts to enjoy the film. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided.

The evening also includes an exciting cardboard boat derby race, where teams will build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape and attempt to race to the other side of the pool without sinking. This fun event is open to the community. Members of the facility get in free, with guest prices at $8 for adults and $4 for kids. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost to enter the boat derby race is $25, and registration is available online at by referencing course #4464.
