Notre Dame Football 'Humbling' for Former Diablo Max Redfield

Max Redfield is learning what it feels like to play major college football.

The Notre Dame freshman graduated from Mission Viejo High earlier this year with 65 tackles, 757 yards receiving, six touchdowns and four interceptions in his senior year. He ranked 23rd in the 2013 ESPN 300.

After playing five games with the Fighting Irish, Redfield has mostly taken the field on special teams, racking up two tackles.

He told The Observer the transition to college football has been "humbling" and said learning the defensive coordination has been "frustrating."

"You’re not the greatest player. You’re not the best player out there. You need to just understand that. … But I’m learning a lot and I’m in the position that I should be.”

He added that he's glad for the team's upcoming bye week, which will give him time to perfect his game and "perform and actually make an impact."
